Breath of Hope: Support for Denas
Many of the children, under the care of our foundation, we know for many years: we have witnessed their illnesses, treatments, recoveries, and growth. One of them is Denas from Siauliai, who has a rare genetic disease when the liver stores glucose and the blood glucose level drops. This disease is extremely rare, with only three diagnosed cases in Lithuania.
There is no treatment for the disease, it can only be stabilized to a certain level, stopping its progression, but this requires very precise monitoring of blood parameters, special nutrition and exercise.
However, despite the severity of the illness, the Health Insurance Fund does not reimburse the costs of treatment.
Denas’ parents are doing everything possible to cover the expenses for essential medical equipment and specialized nutrition, but the financial burden has become overwhelming.
Denas’s mother is not working because of the child’s care and her own health issues, so the father is the only one working. The family also has a healthy 14 year old girl.
Despite his condition, Denas remains active and curious, but his illnesses significantly limits his ability to enjoy the childhood.
We hope that Denas will be able to enjoy life and feel the minimum consequences of such a serious illness.
We are incredibly grateful to UAB Autobaitas for their 500 Eur financial support provided for the project “Breath of Hope”. This money will be spent to purchase essential supplies for Denas’s blood glucose monitoring system. We sincerely thank UAB Autobaitas for their support and encouragement. Denas, keep fighting—every day is worth it, and we all are with you!
