“Last fall, Aleksandr Gridin charity foundation initiated sock knitting event “Let’s give warmth to one another”, encouraged everyone to knit sock for the children from less fortunate families and orphanages.

We were so happy to find out that this wonderful and meaningful event gathered so many participants of all ages, senior citizens in particular.

Thanks to our sponsors, UAB ,,Litwool” and Darius Juodpusis, who provided everyone with all the necessary yarn, the socks for the little ones were knitted by senior citizens together with the personnel from “Panemunė” center in Kaunas, as well as women attending the same day care center for elderly people, senior citizens – victims of deportation, ladies from Gargždai Viliius Gaigalaitis home and Klaipėda home , ,,Sevilis” care home, seniors from Kaunas district Čekiškis as well as residents of Vilnius Antavilis care home.

Thanks to all the lovely, caring ladies, who knew how to knit, including the personnel of Gridin’s Group and their close ones, workers of the Council of Culture of Lithuania, as well as students and teachers from “Varpas” gymnasium, 422 pairs of socks were knitted during December.

We are pleased, that the purpose of this event was achieved – knitted socks united the little ones and the seniors. The most touching and sincere moment was when all the elderly ladies visited the orphanages, handed out all the socks, listened to children’s prittle-prattle, and received many coddles from the little ones too. Not only the knitted socks will warm these tiny feet during this cold winter, but also give warmth to the hearts of the different generation people.
