The story of Neringa

Unfortunately, Neringa’s world was different from others from an early age. She has never had a cozy home or her own room. There were always four of them in one room – her sister and her drinking parents. Warm meals were rare, only appearing when her mother wasn’t drinking. The house was always noisy and chaotic.
Neringa is currently living with a foster family. They describe her as a very well-behaved and calm child, but her social isolation is evident.
There is hope that Neringa will remain with this foster family, as her biological parents seem indifferent to her current living situation.
We heard this heartbreaking story from a social worker in Silutė, whose dedication to her work is truly admirable.
Next month Neringa turns 14! Her biggest dream is to have the simplest clothes, shoes and what other girls have, even if it’s just a little bit of beauty products. She has never been to a hairdresser, never had basic hygiene products. Listening to Neringa’s story, we were filled with sadness that such things can still happen. We hope that Neringa will finally feel safe and loved in her new home. To help her to make the 14th birthday special, we provided 300 Eur financial support, so she can buy new clothes and look forward to a brighter future.
